Description:
The BOND Project aims to connect a mother with her newborn child by converting her heartbeat and sending it to her baby’s NICU via speaker. A modified stethoscope device records the mother’s EKG and links up with her cellphone using a Bluetooth module. From there, the goal is to convert said EKG data to an audio file. This file is then sent other the network to a respective nurse monitoring the baby. Once the nurse has received this file, we send the file to a NICU device, playing the heartbeat for the baby to hear. This alleviates the critical issue of lost time for a baby to bond with her mother over long distances. With this device, we will help alleviate this issue by transmitting the mother’s heartbeat. The task of our team is to bridge the connection gap between the mother at home and the baby at the hospital. Using an AWS server, the mother sends her heartbeat data to the cloud which is then requested on the hospital side, transmitting her heartbeat live to the baby in the NICU.
