· Project summary (the abstract from the proposal)

With the rising population of Northwest Arkansas, finding a parking spot in Fayetteville is becoming harder every day. There are a number of parking lots around Fayetteville, but they can be hard to find and are frequently full. Google Maps is frequently used to find parking spots in the area, but using this requires more steps than necessary, does not show all parking spots in the area. The objective of this project is to design and create an application that gives users directions to parking in the quickest and most comprehensive manner.

This application will take the GPS location data of the user to find the closest parking spot on their preferred type (free, paid, or meter). The app will reference a database with the location data of parking lots in the Fayetteville area. The application will then show the user the closest paid or free parking lots, letting them choose which one to get directions to. If the lot is full when the user arrives, they can report the lot as full for other users and the app will take them to the next closest lot. This application will help Fayetteville residents quickly and easily find a place to park.
